Face

Face

My version and my inspiration. A very expensive painting in an antique art gallery in florence. Painted with a technique of little quick brush strokes i had never used before. I had fun creating each of those many colors.

Beethoven

Winters i spend in los angeles where i have a studio in my garage. This was a painting i started years ago when i was struggling with how to be a confident and accomplished painter. My journey in italy last year awoke my passion and let me paint without fear.

This painting was an awkward face, half real, half abstract. I worked on it to improve it and give it quality but it did not blossom. Eventually i covered the face with paint on a large spatula and broad strokes. As it became head with no face it instantly reminded me of the silhouette of beethoven, hence the title. A fun journey.
